Would You Get Married At An Amusement Park?

Were you the typical girl who dreamed of a fairy tale wedding with a big dress and lots of flowers? I know I was and even though I didn’t leave the church in a horse and carriage, I did have the wedding of my dreams. But many couples are now choosing unique places to have their weddings. One of those unique venues is an amusement park and Ocean Park in Hong Kong offers 3 such wedding packages.

Hong Kong’s Ocean Park is not just an amusement park but also a marine mammal park and oceanarium. It opened in 1977 and in 2012 about 7.5 million people enjoyed the 226 acre park. Situated in the Southern District of Hong Kong, the park is separated into 2 sections by a large mountain. To travel between the sections you can ride a cable car,

Ocean Park has 3 packages for couples to choose from.

You can tie the knot surrounded by marine creatures at the Grand Aquarium. Inside this Aqua City you will see a coral reef, a solar eclipse, glow-in-the-dark fish, peer through the world’s largest aquarium dome then view over four hundred species of fish behind a viewing panel over forty-two feet wide.

You can also get hitched at the Giant Ferris Wheel. This  ferris wheel is 89 feet high and offers stunning panoramic views of Ocean Park and the South China Sea.

Or you can take a time machine into the past and exchange your vows in Old Hong Kong. This zone of the park brings back the culture of Hong Kong in the 50’s through the 70’s. Ride in a rickshaw, sample delicacies of yesteryear and play classic booth games.

I don’t think I would marry in an amusement park. I do think a reception there would be great fun! I’ll have to keep this idea tucked away for one of my daughters. By the way, I loved Hong Kong. We currently live in mainland China.
